Dalam era serba canggih yang berpaksikan perkembangan teknologi maklumat dan komunikasi (ICT), pembangunan pendidikan mementingkan pembudayaan dan penguasaan ICT dalam kalangan pendidik dan pelajar. Kaedah pengajaran dan pembelajaran harus diubah agar dapat memupuk minat, menggalakkan pelajar supaya lebih bertanggungjawab terhadap pembelajaran, dan juga menerapkan amalan pembelajaran sepanjang hayat. Selain itu, penerapan ICT dalam bidang pendidik juga berupaya merevolusikan pembelajaran, memperkayakan kurikulum, memperkembangkan pedagogi, menstrukturkan organisasi sekolah dengan lebih berkesan, dan melahirkan hubungan yang lebih erat antara pihak sekolah, ibubapa, dan masyarakat. Bagi menyahut cabaran yang dilontarkan bersama pembangunan pesat ICT, Kementerian pendidikan Singapura telah mengimplimentasikan projek Masterplan dalam Pendidikan yang diusahakan dalam tiga fasa sepanjang 15 tahun. Setelah berjaya mencapai kesemua matlamat fasa pertama dan kedua, kini Masterplan dalam Pendidikan berada dalam fasa ketiga yang akan dilaksanakan hingga tahun 2014. Bagi memastikan Kelancaran majlis, persediaan persiapan kelengkapan majlis perlu dilakukan dengan lancar. Kajian ini melibatkan bidang sosio-budaya bagi masyarakat Melayu bandar kelas menengah. Penulisan kajian ini untuk mengupas persediaan yang perlu dilakukan oleh masyarakat bandar dalam  mengadakan majlis perkahwinan dan sambutan majlis terutama dari pelaksanaan istiadat perkahwinan Melayu pada masa kini. Kaedah kajian yang digunakan adalah melibatkan kaedah pemerhatian dan temu bual terhadap responden yang mengadakan  majlis perkahwinan di bandar. Upacara perkahwinan sepatutnya didahului dengan ikatan perpaduan kekeluargaan yang kukuh, kini mula terhakis. Masyarakat bandar kini banyak terdedah kepada proses pembandaran yang sedang rancak dilakukan oleh negara.</text>

Proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran seringkali dilihat sebagai satu proses yang berat dan membosankan. Hal ini diburukkan lagi dengan penggunaan bahasa Melayu semakin tidak dititikberatkan di Singapura. Ramai pelajar mempunyai persepsi bahawa Pengajaran bahasa Melayu tidak sepenting mata pelajaran yang lain. Justeru, guru bahasa Melayu memikul tugas penting untuk memastikan minat untuk mempelajari bahasa Melayu akan berterusan.&#13;
Oleh sebab minat untuk menggunakan dan mempelajari bahasa Melayu semakin meruncing di Singapura, guru perlu melakarkan pengajaran yang mampu menarik minat pelajar supaya pembelajaran bahasa Melayu mudah difahami dan dihayati serta tidak membosankan. Guru harus kreatif memikirkan pendekatan dan teknik yang sesuai untuk membantu pelajar menguasai kemahiran bahasa. Salah satu cara dapat membantu menimbulkan rangsangan serta keinginan pelajar mengetahui dengan lebih mendalam tentang  sesuatu pengajaran adalah dengan menggunakan alat bantu mengajar.&#13;
Dalam kajian ini, pengkaji akan menganalisis keberkesanan permainan bahasa sebagai alat bantu mengajar dan penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Melayu. Selain itu, pengkaji juga ingin memastikan sama ada permainan bahasa berjaya atau tidak dapat menarik minat pelajar dalam pembelajaran bahasa Melayu.&#13;
Kajian ini akan dijalankan ke atas pelajar-pelajar darjah 4 di Sekolah Rendah Yumin yang terletak di bahagian timor Singapura. Seramai 33 orang pelajar yang terdiri daripada pelbagai tahap kemahiran telah dipilih sebagai subjek kajian ini.&#13;
Pengkaji telah membina alat rangsangan yang berupa permainan bahasa sebagai bantu mengajar untuk mengajar kosa kata serta melakar kertas ujian untuk menganalisis keberkesanan permainan bahasa dalam penguasaan kosa kata. Pengkaji juga menjalankan soal selidik berstruktur terhadap pelajar untuk mengesan sama ada permainan bahasa berjaya atau tidak menarik minat pelajar dalam mempelajari bahasa Melayu. Hasil dapatan kajian ini akan digunakan oleh pengkaji untuk menganalisis dan mengesan keberkesanan permainan bahasa dalam membantu pelajar menguasai kosa kata bahasa melayu.&#13;

Masyarakat Melayu memang terikat dengan adat istiadat dan peraturan. Hal ini demikian masyarakat Melayu sentiasa meletakkan adat dan peraturan dalam setiap langkah laku mereka. Namun, pada masa kini, adat tersebut sudah tidak diikut lagi oleh masyarakat Melayu zaman sekarang. Hal ini demikian kerana perubahan keadaan dan zaman yang menyebabkan perkara tersebut berlaku.&#13;
Dalam perkahwinan masyarakat Melayu pada zaman dahulu, terdapat pelbagai jenis yang diamalkan, antaranya ialah adat merisik, adat meminang, adat bersanding, adat menepung tawar, adat mandi sampat, dan sebagainya. Adat-adat ini dilakukan mengikut peraturan yang telah ditetapkan dalam masyarakat dan setiap pasangan  yang akan berkahwin perlu melakukan adat-adat tersebut. Jika tidak, masyarakat sekeliling akan membuat pelbagai spekulasi yang tidak enak untuk didengar.&#13;
Namun, pada zaman sekarang, terdapat sesetengah adat perkahwinan masyarakat Melayu pada zaman dahulu tidak lagi diamalkan oleh masyarakat Melayu pada zaman sekarang. Hal ini demikian kerana peredaran zaman dan perubahan keadaan dan situasi dalam masyarakat. Namun, keadaan ini terjadi mungkin juga kerana orang yang mengepalai sesuatu upacara tersebut telah meninggal dunia dan sekaligus sesetengah adat tersebut tidak lagi diamalkan oleh generasi seterusnya, dan ianya berlanjutan hinggalah ke hari ini.&#13;
Oleh itu, kajian ini dilakukan adalah bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti adat-adat yang masih lagi diamalkan oleh masyarakat Melayu di Kampung Pulau Mansok, Jerantut, Pahang Darul Makmur. Hal ini demikian kerana bagi melihat sejauh mana adat-adat yang diamalkan oleh masyarakat Melayu pada zaman dahulu, masih lagi diamalkan oleh masyarakat Melayu di kampung tersebut. Hal ini bagi memastikan adat-adat perkahwinan masyarakat Melayu pada zaman dahulu tidak terus hilang ditelan arus zaman yang globalisasi ini.</text>

Kaum Kedayan merupakan sebahagian daripada penduduk pribumi  Sarawak Bumi Kenyalang. Walaupun kaum ini merupakan kaum yang minoriti, namun kaum ini juga mempunyai amalan nenek moyang mereka yang masih diwarisi sehingga ke hari ini. Hal ini sama juga seperti penduduk peribumi Sarawak yang lain. Antara amalan tradisi yang masih diamalkan ialah upacara makan tahun. Upacara ini lazimnya disambut pada setiap tahun yang mempunyai tujuannya yang tertentu.&#13;
Walaupun terdapat kaum Kedayan di tempat lain di Sarawak, namun sesetengahnya yang tidak mengamalkan lagi upacara makan tahun. Hal ini kerana ada yang menganggap upacara ini karut dan tidak perlu lagi diamalkan pada zaman ini. Namun, hal ini berbeza dengan tanggapan kaum Kedayan di Kampung Selanyau kerana upacara makan tahun masih diamalkan tahun demi tahun. Pengkaji juga berharap upacara makan tahun ini akan terus diamalkan oleh penduduk kampung di Kampung Selanyau.&#13;
Oleh hal yang demikian, penyelidik ini adalah penelitian turut serta pengkaji terhadap upacara makan tahun yang masih diamalkan oleh kaum Kedayan di Kampung Selanyau, Bekenu, Sarawak. Upacara ini diadakan untuk menandakan tamatnya musim menuai padi pada tahun itu dan sebagai kesyukuran kepada ilahi kerana hasil tanaman padi yang mereka perolehi. Dengan adanya upacara ini, diharapkan hasil padi mereka pada tahun berikutnya semakin bertambah. Oleh itu, upacara ini  secara zahirnya membolehkan kaum ini ‘berinteraksi’ dengan alam semula jadi dalam kehidupan mereka.&#13;
Selain itu, penyelidikan ini juga merupakan usaha pengkaji dalam  merungkai dan menerokai seterusnya cuba untuk memahami kebudayaan yang diamalkan oleh kaum ini. Diharapkan segala maklumat yang terdapat dalam penulisan ini dapat menjadi rujukan suatu hari nanti seandainya pada waktu itu upacara makan tahun sudah tidak diamalkan lagi.</text>

Kajian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengkaji ciri-ciri jati diri masyarakat Orang Asli dari segi bahasa, adat resam, kepercayaan, corak kepimpinan, gaya hidup dan kegiatan ekonomi. Selain itu ia juga untuk mengenal pasti pengekalan ciri-ciri jati diri masyarakat Orang Asli di Kampung Manchis, Bentong, Pahang.&#13;
Kajian dimulakan dengan melihat beberapa konsep yang berkaitan dan seterusnya membuat sorotan beberapa penulisan yang telah dihasilkan berkaitan dengan bidang kajian.&#13;
Kajian ini menggunakan pelbagai kaedah seperti soal selidik, temubual tidak formal, penyelidikan perpustakaan dan pengalaman peribadi sebagai kaedah sokongan.&#13;
Analisis dimulakan dengan melihat komponen jati diri, ciri-ciri jati diri, Orang asli dan ciri-ciri jati diri Orang Asli. Analisis mengenai pengekalan ciri-ciri jati diri dalam konteks perubahan juga diberi tumpuan.&#13;
Secara keseluruhannya, kajian ini mendapati bahawa jati diri masyarakat Orang Asli sangat kuat. Ini diterjemahkan dengan amalan dan larangan yang masih dilakukan sehingga kini. Pengekalan jati diri dilihat dalam konteks perubahan tetapi kebanyakan amalan dan pantang larang masih ditaati oleh masyarakat suku kaum Temuan di Kampung Manchis.&#13;
Beberapa buah buku, latihan ilmiah, akhbar, jurnal dan majalah menjadi rujukan sepanjang kajian ini dilakukan dan seramai 50 orang responden bagi sesi soal selidik dan temu bual dijalankan untuk memberikan maklum balas terhadap kajian ini.</text>

Latihan ilmiah ini merupakan satu kajian menganalisis pendekatan simbolisme dalam sebuah buku koleksi puisi iaitu Susur Pendekar karya Muhammad Jailani Abu Talib. Bagi tujuan ini, pengkaji telah memilih 19 buah puisi dari buku tersebut dan puisi-puisi tersebut telah memuatkan simbol-simbol yang mempunyai kaitan dengan makna yang tersurat dan tersirat. Simbol merupakan satu unsur bahasa-budaya yang menyimpan makna serta mencerminkan minda masyarakat Melayu pada zaman itu.hal ini secara tidak langsung menunjukkan kesinambungan minda generasi masyarakat Melayu seterusnya sepertimana yang dipancarkan dalam karya sastera moden Susur Pendekar. Bagi kajian ini, teori semiotik berdasarkan pendekatan simbolisme akan digunakan sekali gus menekankan bahawa analisis simbol ini adalah bertitik-tolak dari makna atau definisi makna simbol itu saja. Berlandaskan dari itu, kajian analisis pendekatan simbolisme dalam koleksi puisi Susur Pendekar dikelompokkan kepada beberapa kategori simbol. Antaranya termasuklah simbol pendekar, silat, keris, bunga,warna, cakerawala dan binatang.</text>

Pelancongan agro adalah sebuah produk pelancongan yang semakin diminati oleh para pelancongan domestik dan antarabangsa. Pelancongan jenis ini adalah berkonsepkan pertanian serta tumbuhan-tumbuhan semulajadi. Ianya sedang giat diperkenalkan oleh pihak Kementerian Pelancongan Malaysia dengan kerjasama pelbagai pihak dari agensi-agensi pelancongan. Kampung Sungai Haji Dorani, sungai Besar yang terletak di daerah Sabak Bernam, Selangor Darul Ehsan merupakan sebuah kampung yang indah dan mojariti penduduknya adalah kaum Melayu. Bidang pertanian adalah sumber ekonomi utama di kawasan ini yang mempunyai sawah padi, kebun kelapa, ladang ternakan, kebun sayur-sayuran dan buah-buahan  serta aktiviti perikanan di persisiran pantai. Lokasi kampung ini amat sesuai dijadikan kawasan pelancongan agro yang berkonsepkan pertanian. Aktiviti pelancongan  agro yang dijalankan di kawasan-kawasan desa dapat memberi yang positif terhadap pembangunan dan sosioekonomi di kawasan tersebut. Para penduduk kampung dapat menikmati faedah ke atas pelaburan mereka. Ini dapat dilihat daripada hasil-hasil pertanian yang diusahakan oleh penduduk tempatan yang pada mulanya hanya untuk kegunaan sendiri tetapi dengan wujud pelancongan agro tanaman tersebut dapat dikomersialkan dan seterusnya memberi pulangan yang lumayan kepada para pengusaha. Kawasan kampung yang mempunyai tarikan alam semulajadi yang indah dapat menarik lebih ramai kedatangan pelancongan untuk berkunjung. Dengan peningkatan kedatangan pelancongan ianya dapat meningkatkan pendapatan penduduk tempatan hasil daripada perbelanjaan para pelancongan yang mengikuti program-program pelancongan agro yang terdapat di kawasan itu. Justeru, ianya dilihat sebagai medium dalam meningkatkan sumber pendapatan dan ekonomi khasnya kepada penduduk tempatan.</text>

Penghijrahan masyarakat dari satu tempat ke tempat yang lain merupakan satu proses pergerakan manusia yang bukan sekadar membawa fahaman dan pemikiran sendiri, malah budaya, adat dan nilai yang akan diamalkan ke mana-mana mereka berada. Kebudayaan yang mereka dibawa ini merupakan ciri-ciri khas yang telah lama diamalkan secara generasi ke generasi, dan terdapat pelbagai kebudayaan-kebudayaan yang berbeza di seluruh dunia ini. Pertembungan dan kebudayaan yang disebabkan faktor-faktor tertentu seperti penghijrahan akan mewujudkan satu konflik budaya dan nilai yang disebabkan persaingan antara dua pihak ini untuk terus mengekalkan amalan kebudayaan mereka.&#13;
	Dalam era globalisasi ini, proses migrasi menjadi semakin rancak atas kemajuan teknologi pengangkutan, dan atas faktor itu, fenomena pertembungan budaya menjadi  semakin kerap dan kesan yang wujud daripadanya, mula menjadi satu topik untuk di bincangkan. Orang Melayu tidak terkecuali dalam terkena fenomena pertembungan budaya ini apabila ramai orang Melayu mula berhijrah negara-negara lain atas faktor pendidikan, perniagaan, pelancongan, ataupun menetap kekal. Salah sebuah negara yang menjadi tempat penghijrahan ini adalah Korea Selatan. Jumlah orang Melayu yang paling ramai ditunjukkan dalam statistik merupakan pelajar-pelajar yang menuntut di universiti-universiti dalam pelbagai bidang dan tahap. Pertambahan pelajar Melayu ke Korea Selatan dimangkinkan lagi oleh dasar-dasar antara kedua-kedua belah kerajaan yang menjalinkan kerjasama diplomatik dan pendidikan.&#13;
	Perbezaan kebudayaan antara orang Melayu dan orang Korea menjadi satu perkara yang tidak boleh dipandang remeh kerana ia mampu mewujudkan masalah dan konflik. Konflik ini wujud apabila orang Melayu cuba menggunakan sistem kebudayaan mereka yang tidak bersesuaian dengan sistem kebudayaan Korea yang banyak perbezaan antara mereka.&#13;
	Masalah dan cabaran akan wujud akibat perbezaan sistem kebudayaan ini. Oleh itu, pelajar-pelajar Melayu ini harus menyesuaikan diri dengan kebudayaan tempatan demi kelangsungan hidup dan pembelajaran mereka di Korea Selatan.</text>

Kemerosotan dalam bahasa Melayu sering menjadi topik perbualan yang hangat dalam kalangan ahli bahasa, guru-guru, ibubapa dan juga masyarakat Melayu di Singapura umumnya. Masalah yang semakin runcing ini seakan tiada kesudahannya setelah kajian demi kajian dijalankan beserta cadangan-cadangan oleh para pengkaji terdahulu untuk memperbaiki keadaan, malahan pihak Kementerian Pendidikan Singapura dan para pendidik juga telah mencuba pelbagai cara untuk mengatasinya, namun masalah penguasaan bahasa terutamanya dari segi penguasaan kosa kata masih terus menjejas prestasi para pelajar Melayu.&#13;
Fenomena barat telah banyak mempengaruhi budaya dan penggunaan bahasa   Melayu pelajar sehinggakan bahasa Inggeris diangkat menjadi bahasa utama dan bahasa ilmu di sekolah-sekolah di Singapura, lantas meletakkan bahasa Melayu  sebagai bahasa sampingan  sahaja yang sering dianggap tidak penting.&#13;
Dalam kajian ini, pengkaji cuba untuk mengesan dan menganalisis penguasaan kosa kata pelajar menengah 3 di Sekolah Menengah Unity yang bakal menduduki peperiksaan peringkat ‘O” atau peringkat biasa. Dalam kajian ini, pengkaji menggunakan kertas latihan berbentuk prosedur kloz dalam tiga genre yang berbeza, yang dipetik daripada majalah Dewan Siswa dan diubah suai untuk mengesan tahap penguasaan penulisan serta tahap pefahaman kosa kata pelajar.&#13;
Berdasarkan teori Monitor dan Krashen (1982) dan pembentukan kemahiran hasil kajian Muhammad Saiful Haq Hussin (2010), pengkaji menjana pendapat dengan mengaitkan kajian ini dengan melihat bagaimana kemahiran kosa kata itu boleh terbentuk. Bermula dengan pemikiran yang positif dan hasil daripada rangsangan serta gerak balas yang berulang-ulang dapat membina pemahaman sehingga terbentuknya kemahiran. Kemahiran itulah yang menjana input yang boleh ditapis dan dipilih mengikut keperluan. Proses ini akan berulang sehingga terbentuknya kemahiran yang mantap.&#13;
Kajian ini ternyata membuktikan bahawa masih terdapat banyak kelemahan dari segi kosa kata bahasa Melayu dalam kalangan pelajar-pelajar Melayu menengah 3 yang menjadi subjek kajian yang disebabkan oleh faktor-faktor luaran yang mengganggu kemahiran bahasa Melayu mereka. Maka pengkaji menyarankan agar semua pihak termasuk pelajar, ibubapa, sekolah dan masyarakat perlu peka dan mengambil langkah-langkah proaktif agar pembelajaran bahasa Melayu tetap kekal relevan,dan mampu menghasilkan  para pelajar yang cemerlang dalam bahasa Melayu.&#13;
Dalam bab 1, pengkaji menjelaskan sedikit tentang sejarah pendidikan bahasa Melayu di Singapura dan juga sistem penyaluran pelajar dari sekolah rendah ke sekolah menengah.&#13;
Bab 2, mengetengahkan kajian lampu yang pernah dibuat oleh pengkaji-pengkaji terdahulu dan juga membincangkan tentang teori dan metodologi.&#13;
Dalam bab 3, pengkaji membentangkan dan membincangkan dapatan kajian dan menganalisis dapatan kajian tersebut secara terperinci bagi tahap penguasaan penulisan kosa kata pelajar manakala dalam bab 4 pula pengkaji meneruskan perbincangan dalam menganalisis dapatan kajian bagi tahap pemahaman kosa kata pelajar.&#13;
Akhir sekali, dalam bab 5, pengkaji memberi rumusan dan cadangan terhadap masalah yang dihadapi pelajar. Semua anggota masyarakat Melayu bertanggungjawab dalam memastikan bahasa Melayu tetap kekal relevan dan tidak luput dari sistem pelajaran di Singapura. Para pelajar perlu bertindak lebih proaktif untuk memperbaiki penguasaan kosa kata bahasa Melayu mereka agar budaya bahasa Melayu dapat kekal relevan dalam mengharungi zaman pemodenan.</text>

Kesantunan bahasa merupakan satu tatacara kehidupan yang amat dititikberatkan oleh bangsa terutamanya dalam kalangan orang-orang Melayu. Kesantunan bahasa dikaitkan dengan penggunaan bahasa yang baik, sopan, beradab dan memaparkan peribadi mulia seseorang ketika berkata-kata dengan pihak yang berbicara. Keperibadian yang mulia itu juga mampu menjalinkan satu hubungan yang harmoni dalam berkomunikasi dan menjadikan masyarakat yang bersantun itu dipandang mulia dan dihormati.&#13;
	Dalam kajian ini pengkaji ingin mengenal pasti beberapa faktor kesantunan yang terdapat dalam pantun yang sememangnya telah mendarah daging dan menjadi sinonim pada masyarakat Melayu terdahulu. Beberapa aspek kesantunan akan disentuh dalam mengkaji kesantunan dalam pantun Melayu ini. Pengkaji menjurus kepada budi dalam pantun dan cuba mengupas kesantunan bahasa yang dimanifestasikan dalam bait-bait pantun budi itu.&#13;
	Bab 1: dalam bab ini pengkaji akan menyelami beberapa jenis pantun untuk menyingkap kehidupan orang-orang Melayu dalam menyemai sikap dan sifat kesantunan melalui pantun sebagai alat pendidikan kepada anak-anak mereka. Di samping itu, dimuatkan juga latar belakang kajian, objektif kajian, permasalahan kajian, batasan kajian, kepentingan kajian, metodologi kajian dan takrifan kajian.&#13;
	Bab 2: dalam bab ini dikemukakan tentang sorotan kajian dan beberapa kajian lampau yang menunjukkan kajian kesantunan bahasa dan kajian pantun.&#13;
	Bab 3: dalam bab ini dikemukakan sejauh mana pantun Melayu dapat dibuktikan sebagai satu wadah kesantunan bahasa dalam kalangan orang-orang Melayu. Teori Leech yang memperkenalkan maksim kesantunan menerusi bukunya Principles of Pragmatics, telah digunakan  sebagai kerangka teori kajian. Dalam maksim Leech, beliau menekankan semua konsep sopan dalam perhubungan sesama manusia, terutamanya apakah maksud yang hendak disampaikan oleh penutur dan keberkesanan makna yang diterima pendengar. Enam maksim Leech telah dihuraikan dalam bab ini.&#13;
Bab 4: bab ini merupakan analisis pantun budi yang dipetik daripada buku Kurik Kundi Merah Saga. Pantun-pantun budi itu dihuraikan dan dikaitkan dengan 6 maksim kesantunan menurut teori Leech.&#13;
Bab 5: bab ini merupakan bab penutup yang menghuraikan secara keseluruhan terhadap kajian yang dilakukan. Bahagian ini juga menyentuh tentang peranan pantun dalam memaparkan kesantunan bahasa Melayu ketika zaman itu yang masih boleh diguna pakai dalam mendidik dan memupuk kesantunan bahasa dalam kalangan anak Melayu.</text>

	Dalam kajian ini, pengkaji membincangkan tentang aktiviti membela burung candik sebagai salah satu bentuk permainan masa lapang dalam masyarakat Melayu. Aspek-aspek yang dibincangkan melibatkan cara penjagaan, penyakit serta alahan burung.&#13;
	Selain itu, kajian ini juga membincangkan tentang aktiviti pertandingan seni suara burung candik yang dilakukan sebagai salah satu bentuk permainan yang memberikan hiburan kepada masyarakat. Pertandingan ini melibatkan aspek-aspek seperti  organisasi, tempat dan bentuk-bentuk pertandingan.&#13;
	Dapatan  data kajian ini diperolehi melalui kaedah temubual dengan informan yang terlibat secara langsung dalam permainan burung candik. Berdasarkan temu bual tersebut, pengkaji memperolehi maklumat mengenai cara-cara penjagaan dan aspek-aspek yang terlibat dalam pertandingan seni suara burung candik.&#13;
	Kajian ini dilakukan, sebagai salah satu cara untuk melestarikan permainan tradisi yang melibatkan haiwan dalam masyarakat Melayu,supaya ia tidak lupus ditelan zaman.&#13;

Pertandingan belalang krek merupakan satu bentuk pertandingan dalam masyarakat Melayu dan menjadi sukan rakyat yang diminati di beberapa tempat di Malaysia. Kenyaringan bunyi yang dihasilkan  belalang krek membentuk minat hingga mencetuskan idea untuk menjadikannya satu bentuk pertandingan. Istilah ‘krek’ diambil daripada bunyi yang dihasilkan belalang tersebut. Penganjuran pertandingan belalang krek dalam masyarakat Melayu dilakukan di beberapa kawasan di negeri Kedah. Keunikan dan kemerduan bunyi belalang krek membolehkan ia dikomersialkan menjadi satu pertandingan.&#13;
	Pertandingan belalang krek ini merupakan sukan rakyat yang membolehkan masyarakat Melayu memperkenalkan satu bentuk permainan tradisi kepada masyarakat umum. Kajian ini dilakukan untuk mengkaji dan mendokumentasikan pertandingan tersebut dalam masyarakat Melayu dengan menyentuh aspek-aspek tertentu yang terlibat dalam satu-satu pertandingan belalang krek. Antara aspek-aspek tersebut ialah diterangkan tentang belalang krek meliputi penangkapan dan penjagaan sebelum belalang itu dibawa masuk pertandingan, fungsi sosial pertandingan kepada masyarakat dan cadangan yang boleh dilakukan supaya pertandingan belalang krek dapat dipopularkan.&#13;
