You have certainly heard about how arsenic was found in many of the Victorians' favorite cosmetics, but it gets worse. There were other edible items on the market in the late 1800s, such as Dr James P Campbell's “Safe Arsenic Complexion Wafers”. They advertised that they could remove freckles, blackheads and other “facial disfigurements.”
