" The bangsawan music ensemble also adapted to trends in the West and other parts of the world. The number or types of instruments were added when the bandmaster so wished. By the turn of cdntury, Western instruments such as the piano, the flute, the violin, the cornet and the drum had been added to the harmonium and tabla, the instruments first used in the Parsi theatre (Edrus 1960: 63)."
