In Malaysia's view they are an integral part of the peoples of Malaysia, just like the other indigenous (Bumiputra) groups (Figure 1.1), and if there are orang Melayu, orang Iban, orang Kadazandusun etc., so there are Orang Asli. The only difference is that both the components in the lexical item Orang Asli have to be written with uppercase 'O' and 'A', and Asli (an adjective) cannot stand on its own as a label to a group of people.
