Historiografi Melayu adalah teks yang ditulis untuk menceritakan jatuh bangunnya sesebuah kerajaan. Teks ini surat dengan gambaran budaya politik yang menjadi amalan dalam pentadbiran negeri-negeri Melayu. Namun demikian sampai sekarang belum ada sebuah penyelidikan yang mendalam dan menyeluruh terhadap budaya politik historiografi Melayu.&#13;
Kajian ini bertujuan untuk melihat bagaimanakah budaya politik yang digambarkan dalam teks-teks historiolografi tersebut. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa mitos asal usul menjadi sumber utama legitimasi dalam budaya politik Melayu. Kemudian diperkuat dengan adat istiadat, keistimewaan politik dan sosial yang memang sangat ditaati oleh setiap orang Melayu. Waad anara Demang Lebar Daun dengan Seri Teri Buana dijadikan panduan dalam hubungan antara raja dengan rakyat.&#13;
