Peribumi merujuk kumpulan etnik natif di sesebuah wilayah yang dituntut dan dipertahankan sepenuhnya oleh sesebuah negara (Hasan, 1998). Ramle (2007), menyatakan bahawa Orang Asli merupakan satu istilah yang diguna pakai ke atas sekumpulan masyarakat peribumi di Semenanjung Malaysia. Istilah peribumi menjadi label istimewa dalam Perlembagaan Malaysia.
