Cerita Awang Batil merupakan salah satu sastera tradisional yang harus diperlihara serta dipertahankan supaya tidak dilupakan begitu sahaja pada suatu masa nanti. Kajian cerita-cerita Awang Batil dari Perlis ini disesuaikan dengan teori Rasa Fenomenologi serta input-input Islam untuk melihat nilaj nilai estetik yang terdapat dalam cerita-cerita tersebut. Cerita-cerita yang menjadi bahan kajan ini meliputi dua generasi, iaitu cerita yang disampaikan oleh arwah Encik Mahmud Wahid serta cerita yang dipertuturkan oleh naknya, Encik Ramli Mahmud. Cerita-cerita tersebut ialah "Cerita Awang Miskin', 'Cerita Sri Miskin', Cerita Mek Siti Galin', Cerita Awang Denoi atau Raja Kamaruzaman', Cerita Awang Ada Duit Semua Jadi, 'Cerita Awang Betui' dan Cerita Awang Akar Larak. Cerita-cerita ini ditranskripsi dengan menggunakan dialek perlis untuk mengekalkan keaslian cerita tersebut. Daripada analisis tersebut, rasa yang paling banyak dan dominan timbul ialah rasa cinta, rasa wira, rasa malu, rasa syukur, rasa duka dan rasa marah. Rasa-rasa yang timbul daripada cerita cerita tersebut sekaligus dapat mengambarkan cara hidup dan budaya masyarakat yang diceritakan. Selain itu kajian ini juga dapat menyerlahkan ketokohan sesorang penglipur lara dalam menyampaikan sesebuah cerita. </text>
