Title
A History of the Acheen Street Malay Enclave from Oral History Account
Description
In July 1815, Tunku Syed Hussein became involved in a power struggle in Acah when local chieftains invited him to take the throne. Instead, he chose to install his young son, Syed Abdullah, as sultan. Altough briefly crowned, this decision led to prolonged conflict over the Acehnese throne, disrupting regional trade and draining Syed Hussein's resources. The costly and ongoing struggle eventually forced him to abandum his ambitions and return to penang.
