Perubahan teknologi moden bukan hanya melibatkan aspek alatan tetapi turut melibatkan aspek kehidupan dan budaya dalam masyarakat Melayu. Perubahan atau kesan dari teknologi moden dalam pembuatan makanan tradisi Melayu dapat dilihat daripada proses pembuatan budu dan hubungan sosial dalam masyarakat Melayu.
  Objektif kajian akan melihat daripada dua aspek iaitu aspek material dan bukan material. Aspek material akan dilihat daripada proses-proses pembuatan budu dimana melibatkan alatan dan juga tenaga kerja yang digunakan. Manakala dari aspek bukan material dijelaskan kesan perubahan teknologi ke atas hubungan sosial dalam masyarakat Melayu.
  Perubahan-perubahan ini telah mempengaruhi kehidupan masyarakat Melayu secara keseluruhannya. Perubahan yang tercetus dari kemasukan teknologi moden ini telah menghakis amalan-amalan yang menjadi kebiasaan masyarakat Melayu. Kajian ini akhirnya dapat membuktikan terdapat perubahan yang berlaku dalam masyarakat Melayu disebabkan oleh kemasukan teknologi moden.
