Abstrak

Disertasi ini mengkaji 'bahasa istimewa' yang terdapat di dalam iklan cetak. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti kehadiran unsur retorik dan sosiolinguistik 'bahasa istimewa' tersebut. Bab 1 membincangkan latar belakang kajian, tujuan kajian, kepentingan kajian, bahan kajian dan metodologi yang digunakan. Dalam bab 2 dibincangkan kajian-kajian lampau bahasa iklan cetak di Barat dan di Malaysia. Dalam bab ini Di dalam bahagian akhir juga ditinjau kaitan di antara bahasa, iklan dan retorik. bab ini perbincangan ditumpu terhadap gejala retorik dan hubungannya dengan sosiolinguistik. Bab 3 adalah berkenaan analisis retorik dengan tumpuan kepada gejala dan fungsi ketiga-tiga gejala ini diteliti. linguistik dan fungsi-fungsinya dalam bahasa iklan cetak. Perbincangan bahagian ini ditumpukan kepada gejala perkataan, frasalayat dan bahasa kiasan. Kehadiran Dalam bab 4 analisis retorik bahasa iklan cetak dengan tumpuan kepada gejala etos dan patos dilakukan. Bahagian pertama bab ini membincangkan ciri ciri etos dan patos. Bahagian kedua pula meneliti kehadiran beberapa ciri menarik etos dan patos dalam bahasa iklan cetak.
