Description

Sultan Abdul Majid Hassan of Brunei, also known as the King of Boni, died in 1408 while visiting the Ming court in Nanjing. Honoring his wish to be buried in China, the Yongle Emperor arranged a royal funeral and had him interred at Shizi Hill, just outside the southern gate of the city. The tomb, forgotten for centuries, was rediscovered in 1958 and is now part of a scenic area that includes a Brunei-style park and the China-Brunei Friendship Hall. This site reflects the deep historical ties between Brunei and China, dating back to early diplomatic exchanges and cultural connections.
