"According to most authorities, the Proto-Malays are the last of the immigrant groups among the Orang Asli, and it is thought that they had come to Malaya some 5000 years ago. A widely accepted theory, based upon some archaeological findings, is that they came to Malaya from a location in Yunan, in present-day China, and that there was a good deal of intermarriage between themselves and the earlier Senoi settlers."
