"Also from the result of the lexicostatistical test, Duano is found to be a language in its own right, not a dialect of Malay as claimed by certain scholars (e. g. Mohd Sharifuding, 2013). This finding contradicts another claim that there is no non-Malayic Austronesian language in the Malay Peninsula. Duano has proven to be one such language, although its arrival in the peninsula is probably relatively recent."
