"The Temiars of the upland parts of Kelantan, Perak and northern Pahang form one of the largest Orang Asli (Aboriginal) populations of Peninsular Malaysia, but because of their relative isolation, they have been less studied than the other large populations. (See Map 1, p.126) For many decades, entry into Temiar territory was strictly controlled, under security restrictions that began in 1948 with the anti-Communist 'Emergency'."
